Alex, an Oklahoma City native joined the Utah Symphony as Principal Tuba in 2022. Prior to joining the orchestra, he was a doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin and earned a Master of Music degree from Oklahoma State University and a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Oklahoma.
Alex has also performed with the New Mexico Philharmonic, Dallas Winds, Symphony of Northwest Arkansas and Richardson Symphony Orchestra and held teaching positions at the University of Oklahoma and East Central University.
As a soloist, Alex has won multiple International tuba solo competitions including the Leonard Falcone International Tuba and Euphonium Competition in 2019 and the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference Artist Solo Competition also in 2019. Additionally, he was invited as a guest recitalist at the US Army Band Tuba and Euphonium Workshop in 2020 and the Southcentral Regional Tuba and Euphonium Conference in 2022.
Alex is an Eastman Winds performing artist.
