Àngel Torres began his music education at Escola de Música de Bellreguard and Conservatori Professional de Música Josep Climent d'Oliva. In these earlier stages of his tuba career he was awarded several prizes including two first prizes at Concurs de Tuba Vila d'Altea -years 2005 and 2006- as well as a second prize at the same competition in 2004. Started his bachelor studies at Conservatori Superior de les Illes Balears (CSMIB) in performance in 2007. During this time he was appointed main tuba of the Jove Orquestra Nacional de Catalunya (2008 and 2009). Àngel also collaborated on several occasions with Banda Municipal de Bilbao and Banda Municipal de Palma. He obtained his degree in Tuba Performance with honors in 2011. In 2010 he was appointed collaborator with the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallès. In 2011 he became a member of the Banda Municipal de Música de Vitoria-Gasteiz and subsequently in 2012 he became part of SimfoVents - Banda Municipal de Música de Palma, where he is involved in intensive performing activities. Àngel combines his work at SimfoVents with his academic duties as a professor at CSMIB where he teaches tuba, orchestral and wind ensemble repertoire and contemporary repertoire. Àngel Torres also obtained his postgraduate degree in Community Manager from Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) as well as his Masters degree in Performing and Music Research from the Universitat Internacional de València (VIU). He's a member of Duet Sintagma with pianist Francis Blanes, with whom he recorded and published the complete cycle of Winterreise in an arrangement for tuba and piano. This recording took place at Estudis Ona (Bunyola). Àngel is also the creator of the podcast Tocando en Banda, where he speaks about history, repertoire and practice routines for tuba players in a wind ensemble. Àngel is currently a Performing Artist of the prestigious brand Eastman Winds.
