He has also been a featured soloist with the band and has travelled internationally performing in Switzerland, France and Turkey. Having performed for many international Heads of Government and Heads of State, Bjorn lists career highlights performing for the Queen and the President of the United States of America.
He is also the Principal Tuba of the Canberra Symphony Orchestra, a position he has held since 2011. During his career, he has also been a substitute tubist with the Adelaide Symphony and the Australian Opera Ballet Orchestras. As a freelancer, Bjorn has performed and recorded with many of Australia’s top artists including Kate Miller Hiedke, The Whitlams, Kate Cerbrano and John Farnham. In 2024 he will take the tuba chair for the Canberra run of Chicago and looks forward to releasing his first solo album.
As a passionate educator, Bjorn teaches at the Australian National University and heads a program with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra mentoring and developing the next generation of brass players.
Bjorn feels privileged to partner with Eastman Winds. He has performed on the Eastman EBC836 since 2020 and will now also perform on the EBF866GS. "I have played many tubas during my time as a professional and nothing comes close to the response and colour that I can achieve on Eastman tubas. In my dual role as and orchestral and military tubist, I need a tuba that will meet the different demands on my playing. With the Eastman in my hands, paired with the wonderful Laskey mouthpieces, I feel that I can meet and exceed all that is expected of me."
